I started this week off at home. After a strong return from Fourth of July at work, I picked up my mom from the airport. It was nice to see her after her long trip to India. I returned to DC on Tuesday and spent Wednesday recording a panel and working on the budget project.

There is no way for words on a screen to give this week justice. Not to be dramatic, but this week is one that I will remember for the rest of my life. This week I attended the AAPT Summer Meeting in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I drove with Mark (my mentor) and arrived on Sunday night.

This week started with a bang of colors. Monday was the 4th of July, America’s Independence Day. In the morning we went around Washington monument to watch the parade. Then we went for a quick lunch at Duke’s. Later around 6-6:30 we left GWU for the Washington monument one more time.

Monday was the 4th of July! A lot of us went to the National Mall and had fantastic seats right under the Washington Monument to see the fireworks display over the reflecting pool.
