This internship has offered me opportunities I couldn’t have imagined before the start of the summer. From climbing inside a cutting-edge spacecraft to seeing Bill Nye in person, the memories we packed into our days here have made the past two months a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience. Well, twice if you’re lucky like Caleb.

In order to get a feel for the kind of work they do (and the kind of puns that will fly in this office), my supervisors had me spend one of my mornings the first week reading through issues 1-6 of "Spectra: The Original Laser Superhero."

Moving to a new city is supposed to be scary. Some of my friends warned me about the turbulence of "leaving your bubble", of having to establish yourself, find your bearings, make new friends, and figure out who you are in a strange place. This transition has held none of that for me.

It blows my mind that I'm writing this reflection just two weeks after this internship. When I first started, it felt like this experience would go on for forever. Now it seems like forever ago that I was back in DC with the rest of the interns and staff at SPS.

So, it's been a full week at SPS and things are going very well. I think I've made a good transition back into the working environment. Friday was spent on brainstorming more demonstration ideas, as well as meeting Dr. Kraig Wheeler of the American Crystallographic Association at a meeting.

Before I explain what I have been up to for the past week, allow me to introduce myself! I'm Mark Sellers and I'm the 2014 SOCK intern. I am originally from Kansas City, Missouri and am a rising senior at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee.

My last week at Goddard and AIP was a very good review of what I'd done all summer. I reviewed my slides and my work (also in Latex) in order to create a poster for the NASA intern poster session. My project was very well suited to my skills and the time period allotted.
