SPS Leadership Scholarship
I am a senior at the Georgia Institute of Technology, majoring in Physics with Pre-Health Standing. My academic exposure includes a summer of research in the Agile Systems Lab at Georgia Tech, studying insect nervous systems with methods of information theory, a summer of shadowing at First Coast Oncology in Jacksonville, Florida, and, currently, research in atmospheric analysis of Callisto under Sven Simon's planetary science computational physics team. I was brought in to the SPS chapter at my school during my freshman year, and served as President my following year. My focus as President was bringing in the same sense of welcome my predecessors offered me to all incoming freshmen and current members. We accomplished this through mentoring programs, mental health group seminars, and a focus on the discouragement of sexist comments and behavior within our chapter and the department. We, as an organization, owe all of the success of that year to the constant attentiveness of our treasurer, Hung Le, the counsel of the Vice President, Nicholas Lucas, and the tireless and thorough work of our Secretary, Chris Gilbert. I intend to be involved in the administration of this chapter until I graduate. I will take time after my graduation to perform volunteer health services before attending medical school. Following this, I intend to pursue a career both in practice and in research and to dedicate my life both to medical healing and an active role in activism against injustice in our country.
