Joseph Heckenlaible

Biography

I am a senior at Appalachian State University, majoring in Physics and Mathematics. At Appalachian State, I conduct research in the Biophysics and Optical Sciences Facility (BiyOSeF), focusing on the use of optical tweezers. Since 2021, I have been an active member of the Society of Physics Students (SPS), serving as secretary and then president for two years. In 2023, I was inducted into Sigma Pi Sigma. Our SPS chapter is heavily involved in physics outreach, hosting numerous physics demo shows each year. After graduating, I plan to pursue a Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics.
