SPS Google Scholarship
My academic journey first began at Red Rocks Community College where I was enrolled as a computer science major. After my first semester, I made the switch to physics and graduated with an Associate’s of Science with a Physics designation in Fall of 2021. Within my first three months at the University of Colorado Denver, I began working as a research intern in the Quantum Sensors laboratory. There I learned, and continue to learn, invaluable hands-on experience involving electronics, cryogenics, vacuum systems, and instrumentation interfacing. In October of last year, I was elected Vice President of the CU Denver Physics Identity & Expression club, a club that offers an inclusive space on campus for marginalized groups within the physics discipline. Additionally, during my time at CU Denver, I have been deeply involved with SPS. I have attended 2 zone meetings and was also in attendance at PhysCon 2022. Recently, I have been elected president for my SPS chapter and am running unopposed as the Associate Zone Councilor for Zone 14. I am greatly looking forward to my coming term at my institution’s chapter and also being a part of the national council. My career goals involve working in research for quantum technologies and expanding their accessibility. To achieve this, I plan to pursue a PhD program in quantum information science after graduation in spring of next year. In my free time, I enjoy playing the piano, taking care of my many houseplants, and oil painting.
