Kieran Layne

Biography

I was born and raised in Asheville, NC. While my parents did get divorced I still grew up in two loving and warm households. I was instilled from a young age with a love for reading and an endless curiosity. Still while going through my teenage years I got into trouble and was troubled, I was searching for something to fill my own lack of self love. I eventually found my way thanks to my awesome support network of family and friends. After trying to go to college immediately after high school and dropping out, I went back to school through my local community college and eventually transferring to UNCA where I decided to pursue Math and Physics. It was here that I found the awesome community in the physics department and was able to join the local SPS chapter. It has been amazing being able to support the chapter and all the fun events that we do. My future plans include participating in SPS during my final year at UNCA. I will also be finishing my degree here and applying to graduate school, during this process I am hoping to focus in on what research I am really interested in. Finally I will be continuing undergraduate research at UNCA and having a fun time doing it.
