SPS is special because it allows physics students to connect beyond the classroom. Without the stress of homework, tests, and grades, I can remember everything that made me fall in love with physics.

I love the welcome and nurturing support my chapter offered me as a first year student in physics. I have seen this precedent hold true throughout my experience with the organization; to me, SPS is primarily about community.

One of SPS' greatest strengths is its acknowledgement that the world benefits from physics knowledge in a variety of disciplines and contexts. SPS has given me the opportunity to learn from and contribute to a community of aspiring physicists with diverse interests in policy, research, and outreach.

For me, SPS represents the opportunity to share my passion for physics and astronomy with a community of like-minded students. The vibrant student community was a large part of what motivated me to major in physics when I came to Haverford, and SPS gives me an oppurtunity to maintain that for the next crop of students.

SPS is a community that attracts some of the brightest and most thoughtful individuals and brings them together in a way that is even greater than the sum of its parts. It not only provides amazing opportunities to its members, but also emphasizes paying those opportunities forward.

To me, the Society of Physics Students (SPS) means a supportive and inclusive family whose purpose is to help you achieve your academic and career goals. Coming from a small primarily undergraduate institution, SPS allowed our majors to connect with the professional physics community and make meaningful connections with people in our field. This organization allowed me to attend my first conference, gain leadership/professional experience, and achieve my dreams of working at NASA as a 2021 SPS Intern. I had the privilege of co-founding our chapter, with my peer Kelli Shar, and serving on the executive board for three consecutive years. The community we have built together through SPS at UT is something I will cherish for the rest of my life, and I aim to foster in the future organizations I am a part of.
