SPS Outstanding Chapter Advisor

Ethan Deneault is a professor and the director for Spartan Studies Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the University of Tampa. He earned his B.S. in Physics and B.S. Humanities (Music) degrees from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Physics from Clemson University, where he developed chemical models for the condensation of molecules in supernova ejecta. He developed and built the physics major program and department at UT which had not been in existence since the 1970’s. Dr. Deneault also helped to develop the new Spartan Studies general education program at UT, and served as the Director of the natural sciences and mathematics areas of the program from 2021-2023. He has served as advisor to the UT chapter of the SPS since its founding and is proud of his student leadership for working hard to earn an SPS chapter award of Distinguished or Outstanding every year since 2019.
Dr. Deneault is a passionate instructor who teaches physics through storytelling with stick figures and their adventures. He has a passion for science outreach, and has taught science summer schools for middle school students and held stellar and eclipse observing events for the local community as well as volunteering with the Boy Scouts STEM programs and as an adult leader. Dr. Deneault’s dedication to his students is demonstrated though his mentoring and advising roles: his office door is always open for help be it classwork, professional advice, or personal problems.
