Alexis Petty

Biography

I am a rising senior at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth majoring in physics and minoring in math. My current interests revolve around the world of medicine; medical physics. However, this is a recent adjustment, as I have spent much of my time as an undergraduate preforming astrophysics related research with Dr. Robert Fisher. For me, medical physics gives me the opportunity to help others, one of my strongest passions, in a more hands-on, concrete, and visible way. I am very excited to continue learning about the medical world through my REU (Research Experience of Undergraduates) this summer hosted by Harvard and MIT's Health Science and Technology at Mass General Hospital's Wellman Center for Photomedicine. I have been placed in Dr. Charles Lin's Lab and will be working on a microscope that we will be developing further at Boston Children's Hospital.
