Graduate Research Assistant
I am currently a PhD student in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at George Washington University, and my research is in biomedical acoustics. In my case, this means that I study ultrasound, microbubbles, and microdroplets for therapeutic and diagnostic applications. I love how this work intertwines fundamental principles of physics with biological systems.
I received my undergraduate degrees in Physics and Philosophy from William Jewell College, the place where I first encountered SPS. My involvement expanded from the local chapter my first year to the SPS National Council and Executive Committee my senior year. Additionally, I was inducted into Sigma Pi Sigma in 2016 and spent the summer of 2019 as the SPS Society of Rheology intern. The Society of Physics Students has greatly increased my appreciation for the people and organizations supporting scientists, as well as the scientists themselves, and it has inspired me in my own scientific endeavors.
Outside academics, I’ve enjoyed volunteering with science outreach programs at local elementary schools and museums. In the future, I hope to contribute to the professional scientific community in ways that nurture communication and engagement with people outside that community.
