SPS Outstanding Service Award
Maya received her degree in physics from the University of San Diego (USD) in May and has since worked as a post-baccalaureate researcher at USD in the Robertson-Anderson research group. As an undergraduate, Maya was an incredibly impactful SPS president. As the leader of her chapter, Maya worked hard amidst her studies to both plan and support a wide range of events, as well as encouraging others to participate. This took more effort than one might otherwise hope, in part because the students in the department had lost the practice of engaging in these events due to Covid. Additionally, with her help, 15 students traveled cross-country to PhysCon with minimal costs to each. Alongside her work in the Robertson-Anderson lab, she served as an active and valued member of the Local Organizing Committee for the APS CUWiP (Conferences for Undergraduate Women in Physics) meeting that was held at USD in January.
