Emma Horner

Biography

Emma received her Bachelor of Science in physics from the University of San Diego (USD) in January 2023 and has since worked as a post-baccalaureate researcher at USD. As an undergraduate, Emma embodied the “center of mass” of life in the department. She could often be found encouraging others while studying for classes, engaging and supporting her peers in their research endeavors, and leading outreach opportunities. She was a leader of the outstanding SPS chapter, a mentor to younger students, and always available to represent the department at recruitment events. She took a leadership role in outreach efforts, such as curating a planetarium exploration and being an active and valued member of the Local Organizing Committee for the APS CUWiP (Conferences for Undergraduate Women in Physics) meeting that was held at USD in January.
