SPS Chapter Research Award
The SPS students at Drexel University will study the correlation between cosmic ray flux and errors cosmic rays induce in electronic memory storage devices. They plan to fly a weather balloon outfitted with a Geiger counter and a RAM memory device to collect data at various altitudes. Understanding the correlation would better inform memory device protection efforts for airplanes and other mid-altitude vessels.
