Shannon Clardy

Dr. Shannon Clardy is a professor of physics and engineering at Henderson State University, where she has served for eleven years.  She earned her Bachelors of Science in Physics and Bachelors of Music in Oboe Performance from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas and her Ph.D. in Applied Physics from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, studying optical properties of high-mass binary systems.  Her current research is the design, construction, and testing of a low-cost laminar flow wind tunnel for aerodynamic studies in high-powered rocketry.  Dr. Clardy’s project has incorporated eighteen research students over the course of eight years. Her most recent team of student researchers was recognized by the Council for Undergraduate Research at the Posters on the Hill event for their work.

Dr. Clardy has been the SPS advisor at Henderson State for the past eleven years and has been named “Outstanding Advisor” by the Student Activities Board at HSU.  The HSU SPS chapter brings together other student organizations in programs such as their Family Science Night and Science Olympics and was awarded the “Outstanding Collaborative Effort” award by the Student Activities Board this year.  Dr. Clardy is currently serving as the Zone Councilor for Zone X.
