2018
SPS Outstanding Chapter Advisor
California State University-San Marcos
I earned my B.S. in Physics and Mathematics at SUNY Oswego in 2005, and my PhD in Physics from SUNY University at Buffalo in 2012. My PhD work focused on critical point coupling in confined superfluid helium-4 near the superfluid transition. After completing my doctoral work I began a 3 year postdoctoral position through the Joint Quantum Institute, at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg Maryland, where I switched my field of study to silicon quantum electronics. In 2015 I joined the California State University San Marcos department of Physics, where through the help of a recent DOD grant for a cryogen-free dilution refrigeration system I continue my research into silicon single electron devices. Since joining CSUSM I have served as SPS faculty advisor and dedicated my time to helping our chapter increase their presence at research conferences, as well as supporting their outreach work with underrepresented minority groups in the North County San Diego Area.
