Deval Mehta is Senior at the University of Delaware pursuing majors in Physics and Mathematics with a minor in Astronomy. He plans to pursue graduate education with the hopes of eventually becoming a fully-tenured professor at a recognized four-year research institution.
As a Sophomore, Deval served as the Public Relations Officer for the University of Delaware Chapter, playing an instrumental role in reviving the chapter's national involvement. Last year, as President, Deval helped plan and host the Zone 3 Meeting. In addition to SPS, (and a myriad of other extracurricular activities) Deval is an Honors student and served as a peer mentor for first-year Honors students, a role referred to as the "Munson Fellow," from which he has gained valuable experience in advising students and planning events.
Deval has spent the entirety of his Undergraduate career working in the Massive Star Group at the University of Delaware under the supervision of Dr. Stan Owocki of the Bartol Research Institute. After finishing his studies, Deval plans to pursue research in Quantum Cosmology, studying the very beginnings of our Universe. He also wants to plan initiatives to improve STEM education at all levels in order to build a brighter future for the world.
