Suzanne Gronemeyer, Ph.D. is currently an Associate Director in Academic Programs at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, USA. She is the director of both the Pediatric Oncology Education Program and the Continuing Umbrella of Research Experiences Program. She also holds an appointment as Associate Professor at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
Before her move into Academic Programs and oncology education, Dr. Gronemeyer had a long and highly respected career as a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) physicist. She obtained her M.A. and Ph.D. in physics (nuclear physics) from Washington University in St. Louis. After fellowships in radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard University Medical School, she became an Engineering Physicist and Radiation Safety Officer at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. She then became the first MRI Applications Scientist for Siemens Medical Systems and in that role oversaw the installation of many MRI machines across the country. She then spent 18 years as a researcher in the Department of Diagnostic Imaging at St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital. Her research in MRI has resulted in numerous publications over the years.
