Coe College
Professor Mario Affatigato, graduate of Coe in 1989, has given his body and soul to working towards the excellence of the Coe College Physics Department and specifically our students. Now chair of the department he has been a distinguished faculty member since 1995 and he has worked with well over a hundred students in research. Mario is an inspirational teacher who has mentored many students to excel after their four years at Coe. He earned his graduate degrees from Vanderbilt University and was given the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers by President Clinton in 1999. In 2013 he was awarded the American Physical Society Prize for Research in an Undergraduate Institution. It is our distinct honor to present to Mario this recognition by Sigma Pi Sigma as a Distinguished Alumni in 2014.
